CANTO.GIF PRESS RELEASE: Canto Releases Internet Client Pro 2.0

The upgraded Cumulus Option Internet Client Pro 2.0 offers a host of new features and extensive customizability to catalog assets, edit metadata and market assets online.

June 28, 2004 - San Francisco, Berlin. Canto, a global leader in Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Internet Client Pro 2.0. Designed for users who do not merely publish their assets but also intend to use them for marketing and generating business, Internet Client Pro 2.0 is a Web-client permitting data upload and editing as well as cataloging. This Internet Solution is compatible with all Cumulus 6 Workgroup Editions - it is a component of Cumulus 6 Business Server Solution and Cumulus 6 Enterprise.

Internet Client Pro 2.0 enables users to create dynamic web pages allowing customers around the world to comfortably search for images and other documents within Cumulus catalogs using standard Web browsers. Compatibility with all Web browsers is ensured as the category tree is now realized by a Java implementation at the server resulting in an HTML output. Customers can search, sort and select items and finally place them in a collection basket. Sorting across several catalogs simultaneously is a new feature. Customizability also extends to QuickSearch, so that fields can be added. A new search feature allows searching within category fields. The integrated ordering system enables users to choose a preferred method of asset delivery, be it download, email or physical fulfillment, e.g. CD-ROM.

According to their user rights, visitors can also catalog new assets, assign assets to new categories, edit and update stored metadata or check-in and check-out assets for local processing without having to install additional software.

The re-designed user interface boasts context-sensitive enabling and disabling of buttons. Further increasing ease of use, Internet Client Pro 2.0 features a "find all" button as well as a "logout" button. Customization is raised to a higher level in Internet Client Pro 2.0. Asset Handling Sets can be employed for customization of cataloging and of the creation of previews. Furthermore, all aspects of Web pages can be customized with the use of Cascading Style Sheets, making the choice of fonts, sizes and styles a breeze. The user can also choose to customize the navigation bar. Compatibility with Web pages created with Internet Client Pro 1.0 is ensured.

User Manager

Internet Client Pro 2.0 now uses the Cumulus 6 User Manager, which simplifies a variety of tasks for the administrator, such as the management of access rights. Internet Client Pro 2.0 no longer requires a Web Publisher Pro serial- number to support unlimited read access. Internet Client Pro 2.0 uses Cumulus format conversion functions so that assets can be converted into other file formats, color spaces or resolutions before downloading them. Now different renditions for the conversion of file formats can be set up in the Cumulus User Manager according to specific needs, making Internet Client Pro the ideal tool for Cross Media workflows in large corporations.

Like all Option Upgrades, Internet Client Pro 2.0 offers significantly enhanced performance and stability. Internet Client Pro 2.0 is based on Cumulus Java Classes. Web pages with very high traffic reveal the real power of this technology as response time becomes extremely fast. Contrary to Java script implementation, all actions are performed on the server with the Java implementation used here. Internet Client Pro 2.0 is a step forward for both users and administrators with its obvious benefits: State-of-the-art technology, central, easy maintenance and adjustment of the JSP pages, high performance and fast response due to server-side operation.

Internet Client Pro 2.0 can be used right out of the box yet is also extremely flexible and completely customizable using high-end HTML editors. It ships with Tomcat 4.1.30 Web application server and is compatible with Tomcat 5 and other Web application servers, such as WebSphere 5.1. Integration with Macromedia Dreamweaver is perfect as the existing possibilities like Custom-Java-Tags and online reference are fully supported.
