Why We Like the DJI Osmo Pocket 3

The Osmo Pocket 3 combines a relatively large 1-inch sensor with a stabilized camera system, helping it capture detailed footage in a variety of lighting conditions. Its sensor gives it an advantage over many smaller-sensor cameras in low light, although results will vary depending on the scene and the smartphone or camera you compare it with.

The three-axis mechanical gimbal compensates for camera movement to produce smoother footage while walking and moving around. Its rotatable 2-inch OLED touchscreen also makes switching between horizontal and vertical shooting straightforward, which is particularly convenient for YouTube videos, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

DJI’s ActiveTrack 6.0 helps keep subjects in the frame while they move, making the camera useful for solo creators who need to film themselves without a dedicated camera operator. It also supports 10-bit D-Log M recording, giving editors more flexibility when adjusting colors and contrast in post-production.

At approximately 179 grams, the Osmo Pocket 3 is easy to carry in a pocket or small bag. Its built-in stereo microphones provide convenient audio capture, and compatible external DJI microphone systems can improve sound quality for interviews, voiceovers, and talking-head videos.

What to Consider Before Buying

The Osmo Pocket 3 is not waterproof or weather-sealed, so you’ll need to protect it from rain, splashes, and dusty environments. Its battery is built in rather than swappable, which can be inconvenient during long recording sessions. You can extend shooting time with compatible external power sources or accessories, but you should still plan around charging needs.

Keep in mind that 4K/120fps is intended for slow-motion recording rather than standard-speed playback at that frame rate. If you mainly want a simple camera for everyday vlogging and social media clips, though, the Osmo Pocket 3 offers a compact combination of stabilized video, subject tracking, and convenient audio options.
