Tokina has officially released the AT-X 24–70mm F/2.8 lens, the first full-frame 24–70mm lens from the Japanese manufacturer.
Announced at CP+ earlier this year, the AT-X 24–70mm F/2.8 features a new optical design that uses three ‘precision molded’ aspherical lens elements and three ‘SD’ super-low dispersion elements. This proprietary design is said to improve contrast, sharpness and issues from chromatic aberrations.
The lens’ autofocus is driven by Tokina’s Silent Drive-Module (SDM), which keeps noise to a minimum while quickly focusing on the subject. Token says in its press release, it’s one of their ‘quickest and quietest auto-focusing lenses to date’.
Tokina has also included its 'one-touch focus clutch mechanism', which lets you easily switch between AF and MF by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and backwards for manual focusing.
The lens is available for Nikon F and Canon EF mounts and is currently available for pre-order for $999.
