For some, Instagram is a portfolio. For others, it’s a source of inspiration. If you fall into the latter category, a new app called Follow Friday is just for you.

Taking its name from the ongoing trend of using the fifth day of the week to share with the world your friends and inspiration, Follow Friday is an app that will let you automatically create weekly posts that feature four of your favorite people you follow.

The app was built by Gabe Ragland, Founder of Imgfave, as a means to learn ReactJS. After speaking with a handful of bloggers and users of Instagram, Ragland learned there was ‘actually a pretty big need for this’, as he said in the comments of Follow Friday’s Product Hunt entry.

The process is simple. Open up Follow Friday, select four people whose work you would like to share with your followers, and Follow Friday automatically creates a photo grid that you that can then be posted to Instagram.

Follow Friday doesn’t pre-populate the caption with the users information, as I was hoping it would, but it’s not that difficult to tag a few people you follow within the Instagram app.

Previously, I stated Follow Friday does not pre-populate the captions with the username information of the people you have chosen. It appears that was merely a bug on my smartphone and that it does indeed pre-populate that information.

The Follow Friday app is available for free for both iOS and Android in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
