No matter how you’re lighting your photographs, there are certain traits, or principles, of light that will ultimately determine the aesthetic of your photograph.
In photography, there are three main principles: instensity/quantity of light, direction of light, and quality of light.
In the below video, a segment from a CreativeLive session, portrait photographer Lindsay Adler walks through the basics of these three principles, breaking down how each one affects the sculpting of a subject.
