Amazon Prime Day is here! We’ll keep you updated on the best camera and lens deals throughout the day
posted Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 6:32 AM EST
Update 5:30pm EDT: We're now live with the Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 macro ($439), the 21mm f/1.4 ($319) and also the 85mm f/1.4 for Sony E-mount at just $239!. See below for the links and details, and stay tuned for more to come.
For anyone not yet familiar with Amazon Prime, it's an annual membership offered by Amazon that includes a variety of benefits such as free two-day shipping on certain items, access to free films and video, free cloud storage, etc. It also offers members a day of special deals every July, and these deals are only valid for Prime members.
That day is today, and the deals are beginning to roll out now. Amazon spaces them throughout the day, and they're generally only valid for a set time. Quantities are also limited, but fortunately they let you know as the day goes on how much stock is left for the pickings (at least, in terms of the percentage sold, that is).
So what about cameras and lenses for us enthusiast gear-heads out there? So far, there are a fair number of peripherals available such as tripods, cases, camera bags and such. For actual bodies and lenses, below is what we have to choose from thus far, limited primarily to Canon and Sony mount third-party lenses (and a Nikon mount Rokinon sneaking into the mix as well!).
For the second half of the day, we'll move the expired and fully claimed deals to the bottom, and put the more current ones here at the top.
Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 for Sony E-mount (Now 40% claimed)
Sony portrait shooters, this lens can be yours for just $239! This is 20% off, and at an already reasonable price, we're guessing this deal will go the way of the Lensbaby Velvet and sell out in short order. If you want one, best grab it now!
Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro for Canon mount
Need a capable portrait prime that's also a macro lens? These can often get pricey, but for the next few hours maybe not so much, now at just $439 while they last!
Rokinon 21mm f/1.4 for Sony E-mount
It's wide and very bright, and for this afternoon one can be yours for just $319! That's a full 36% savings.
Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 for Canon mount (now 75% claimed!)
Feeling the need to go ultra-wide? This Rokinin will gobble up even the most expansive landscape, and this is the newer updated UMC version. As of now, the deal is already 25% claimed, so if you need ultra-wide angle for just $270 (20% off) then now is the time!
Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 for Nikon mount
And not to leave Nikon shooter's out of the party, this version has the built-in focus confirm AE chip. Not quite the steal at $299, but still 21% off! Grab one while they last.
Rokinon 12mm f/2 for Sony E-mount
Ultra-wide angle, very bright aperture, discounted today only. Now available for $319, which is a full 20% off.
Rokinon 16mm f/2 for Canon mount (100% claimed)
Yet another wide-angle Rokinon for Canon mount, this one opening to a generous f/2.0. This deal is now live for just $287, so get 'em while they're hot! [Update: Now 100% claimed]
Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 for Sony E-mount
Back to Sony E-mount now with a lens not quite as wide nor bright as the 12mm f/2 Rokinon listed above, but coming in about $50 cheaper at just $271!
Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 for Canon EF mount (100% claimed)
Craving shallow depth of field? This "baby" will deliver! At $399 it really is a good deal. As of 8:00am EDT this deal is already almost half claimed, so best to go ahead and jump on it if you've been craving one of these. [Update - this deal already 100% claimed at 8:21am!]
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 for Canon mount (100% claimed)
Sports and wildlife shooters needing a quality constant f/2.8 zoom will want to take a closer look here. Our test of this lens showed very good results, so these may not last long. Now live for just $899 and 36% off, this deal will likely not last long. [Update - now fully claimed.]
