Following last week's announcement of the AF 24mm f/2.8 lens for Sony E, Rokinon has announced a new full-frame portrait prime for Canon EF mount, the AF 85mm f/1.4. The lens is designed to be vivid, sharp and bright while delivering optical quality well-suited for Canon's latest advanced full-frame digital cameras.

The lens features multiple advanced lens technologies, including a Hybrid Aspherical Element, which help it retain a lightweight, compact form factor. The prime is less than three inches long (72 millimeters) and weighs 17 ounces (485 grams). The lens' autofocus is driven by a pair of Linear Ultrasonic Motors (LSMs), which adjust only a single inner lens group for achieving focus. In total, the lens features nine glass elements in seven groups and includes Rokinon's Ultra Multi-Coating.

The minimum focusing distance is 2.95 feet (0.9 meters), which allows for a magnification ratio of 0.11x on full-frame cameras. The lens has a 77mm filter thread and nine diaphragm blades. The lens will be available in August for a recommended retail price of $799 USD, which is about half of what Canon's own 85mm f/1.4 prime costs.
