Minimalism in landscape photography: How to create simple compositions

 

 

Danish photographer Mads Peter Iversen spends a lot of time in Iceland during a recent visit to the famous church, Strandarkirkja, Iversen had planned to create a minimalist image. How do you approach minimalist landscape photography and what are some of Iversen's tips and tricks?

When trying to compose a simple image, it's important to be able to identify the areas in the frame which aren't contributing to the emotion you're trying to convey. In Iversen's case, there was a rock wall which wasn't adding to the scene, so to eliminate it, he simply set his camera closer to the ground. Sometimes it takes only a minor change to have a major result.
