Over at SLR Lounge, wedding photographer Pye Jirsa is answering a question he gets very frequently asked, "what gear do you use on a wedding day?" Firstly, he says that "the gear you own will never be as important as your knowledge and creativity…" With that said, over the years as a working pro, Jirsa has acquired a considerable amount of gear. Let's take a look at some of his shooting equipment.

Jirsa uses a Canon DSLR system. The primary camera is a Canon 5D Mark IV and his backup -- when shooting weddings, a backup camera is a must-have -- is a Canon 5D Mark III. His lenses include 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 90mm and 100mm prime lenses, with the latter two being tilt-shift and macro respectively. There are also versatile 24-70mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms. For lighting, Jirsa has four Canon 600EX-RT flashes with numerous modifiers, including an umbrella, reflector and scrim. In addition to his Canon flashes, Jirsa also has Profoto B1 and B2 strobes with various Profoto modifiers. You can see the full list of his gear and accessories by clicking here. To help illustrate how much gear a wedding photographer might have, which Jirsa is quick to point out that you do not need to be a successful wedding photographer, he has joined up with Shivani, an associate photographer for Lin and Jirsa.
