Adorama Through the Lens: Steve Gindler captures stunning portraits in abandoned and old locations

In the latest episode of Adorama’s Through the Lens, the focus is on New Jersey-based photographer, Steve Gindler. Steve was born in Russia before moving to Brooklyn, New York when he was five.

His love affair with photography began when he was in a band and the band members couldn’t agree on a photographer to shoot the band. To put an end to the disagreement, Gindler went out and bought a camera. Now, his focus is on portrait photography. Particularly, portraiture inside of old and abandoned buildings, which creates a fascinating juxtaposition between his subject and their surroundings. “My favorite subject has to be a mix of a person and a background,” Gindler says.
