The process of retouching a portrait in Photoshop doesn't need to be complex or take a long time. With the aid of a new tutorial from tutvid, you can learn how to become a faster and better photo retoucher in only five minutes.

The first step is going to be using Adobe Camera Raw to make some basic global adjustments to your image, including making some broad adjustments to colors and tones, in addition to any sort of necessary lens corrections or exposure adjustments. After that, you may want to make some pixel-level manipulations. Learning how to retouch a person's features, including editing skin and eyes, can be tricky, but an important part of the process is learning how to use a subtle touch and keep your subject looking natural. While you may have made brightness and contrast adjustments to your entire photo inside of Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop's dodge and burn tools are excellent ways to make localized adjustments to the brightness of your images. Like with retouching skin, you will want to be very careful with how you apply dodging and burning. Finally, you're ready to perform the finishing touches and export your retouched image.
