Create realistic light rays in Photoshop using 3 simple steps

 

 

It's fantastic when nature provides light rays for your landscape images. However, the conditions are often uncooperative. Fortunately, you can recreate natural-looking light rays at home on your computer. Unmesh Dinda of PiXimperfect has created a new tutorial for creating light rays in Adobe Photoshop.

The technique comprises three basic steps. The first step requires you to target the bright areas of the image. The second step is to combine blending modes and clipping masks to add color and realism. Finally, putting the finishing touches on it requires the use of surface lighting.
