Lighting one person is tricky enough, lighting two can be very challenging. Fortunately, Jay P. Morgan of The Slanted Lens is here to help. In the video below, Morgan shows five portrait lighting setups for couples and breaks down how best to light a couple. This video is part of The Slanted Lens' ongoing Laws of Light video series, so if you'd like additional lighting tips and tricks, click here to see the previous videos.

"Lighting two people is one of the hardest things to do," says Morgan, so how can we simplify the situation? By concentrating first on correctly posing a couple, lighting them becomes much easier. When your subjects are posed in the same direction, you use the same light, but you must coordinate your subjects such that they can be treated as a single element.
