Sigma has released its 16-300mm F/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary for Nikon Z-mount APS-C cameras, marking the company’s first zoom lens for Nikon’s mirrorless system.

The lens itself isn’t new. Sigma originally launched the 16-300mm for Sony E and Leica L mounts in April 2025, followed by Fujifilm X and Canon RF versions the following month. More than a year later, Nikon Z users can finally get the all-in-one zoom.

The release represents another step in Sigma’s expansion into the Nikon Z system, although the company’s Z-mount lineup remains more limited than its offerings for other mirrorless platforms.

24-450mm Equivalent Zoom Range

Designed for APS-C cameras, the 16-300mm provides a full-frame equivalent focal range of 24-450mm. Its 18.8x zoom range covers everything from wide-angle landscapes to distant subjects, making it suitable for travel, street, portraits and everyday photography.

The lens also offers a 1:2 maximum magnification ratio at 70mm, allowing photographers to focus closely on subjects for near-macro photography.

The optical construction consists of 20 elements in 14 groups, including one FLD element, four SLD elements, one high-refractive-index element and four aspherical elements. Sigma says the design corrects optical aberrations throughout the zoom range while minimizing flare and ghosting in challenging lighting conditions.

HLA Autofocus And 6-Stop Stabilization

Autofocus is powered by Sigma’s High Response Linear Actuator (HLA), which provides fast and accurate focusing. The lens also supports subject recognition and tracking with compatible Nikon cameras.

Sigma has designed the lens with controlled focus breathing, making it suitable for video applications as well as still photography.

The 16-300mm also features Sigma’s OS2 optical stabilization system, providing up to six stops of camera-shake compensation. This should make it easier to shoot handheld at slower shutter speeds, particularly toward the longer end of the zoom range.

Compact Design

Despite its unusually broad focal range, the 16-300mm measures 125.4mm long and weighs 630g. Sigma has also given the lens a dust- and splash-resistant design for use in challenging conditions.

The front element features a water- and oil-repellent coating, making it easier to clean and helping protect the lens during outdoor shooting.

Pricing And Availability

The Sigma 16-300mm F/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary for Nikon Z is priced at $769.Ā The lens is now available for preorder from B&H Photo and is scheduled to begin shipping on November 5, 2026.
