Thypoch has expanded its Simera-C cine prime lineup with the new 100mm T1.9, completing a seven-lens full-frame series covering focal lengths from 16mm to 100mm. The new telephoto prime joins a lineup designed to combine compact construction with cinema-focused controls.
The Simera-C series now includes the 16mm T1.9, 21mm T1.5, 28mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.5, 75mm T1.5, and the new 100mm T1.9. All seven lenses feature 210 degrees of focus rotation and 0.8 MOD gears on their focus and aperture rings.
“The 100mm brings emotion into focus with its telephoto perspective, offering greater exposure flexibility in low light,” Thypoch says.
Optical Design and Image Rendering
Thypoch describes the Simera-C 100mm T1.9 as delivering defined subject detail, soft and natural bokeh, and smooth transitions into out-of-focus areas. The company also highlights its efforts to control chromatic aberration.
The optical design comprises 11 elements in eight groups. According to Thypoch, it is designed to maintain consistent color reproduction across the Simera-C lineup.
Advanced vacuum coating and multilayer anti-reflective coatings help reduce reflections, flare, and ghosting. The lens also features a 16-blade iris, which produces 16-point sunstars when stopped down and smooth background blur at wider apertures.
Inside the lens, an anodized matte-black finish keeps reflectivity below 3.5%, helping reduce stray light reflections within the barrel.
Compact Construction and Cinema-Focused Controls
The Simera-C 100mm T1.9 uses an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy barrel designed to balance strength and weight. The Sony E-mount version measures 86.4mm long and weighs 477g. The lens also features a dust- and splash-resistant design for use in challenging shooting conditions.
It accepts 67mm filters, and Thypoch says the 75mm and 100mm lenses share similar filter thread dimensions, allowing users to reuse filters and accessories such as matte boxes.
The series also maintains consistent gear positioning across lenses, making lens changes more convenient when working with cinema rigs and follow-focus systems.
Pricing and Availability
The Thypoch Simera-C 100mm T1.9 is priced at $879 for Sony E mount and $959 for Leica M mount. Shipping is scheduled to begin in late October 2026, and the lens is available for preorder through B&H Photo.
