It looks like September will be a big month for Sigma. According to a new report, the company is preparing to announce three new lenses during the month.

Photo Rumors reports that Sigma is set to announce the three lenses on September 8, 2026. Among them is the highly anticipated Sigma 85mm F/1.2 DG Art, which the company announced as being in development several months ago.

Sigma 85mm F/1.2 DG Art

The Sigma 85mm F/1.2 DG Art is perhaps the most certain of the three rumored lenses.

Sigma previously announced the development of the fast portrait prime, but provided very little information about the lens at the time. The upcoming 85mm F/1.2 will join Sigma’s growing lineup of ultra-fast F/1.2 primes.

The lens is expected to be available for Sony E and Leica L mounts. Interestingly, Adobe recently added support for the lens to Camera Raw, providing another indication that its official launch could be imminent.

B&H Photo also already has a listing for the lens indicating that it is expected to arrive in September 2026.

Sigma 20-60mm F/2.8-4

The second lens reportedly coming from Sigma is the 20-60mm F/2.8-4.

This would be an interesting addition to Sigma’s lineup and a direct competitor to the Sony 20-70mm F/4 G, one of Sony’s popular standard zoom lenses. The Sigma would also indirectly compete with the faster Thypoch Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8 and Tamron 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD.

The 20-60mm range gives photographers a useful combination of an ultra-wide 20mm focal length and a standard 60mm telephoto reach. The F/2.8-4 variable aperture also keeps the lens relatively compact while offering a faster aperture at the wide end.

The Mysterious 65mm F/1.0

The third lens is considerably more questionable.

Earlier this year, rumors emerged that Sigma could be developing a 65mm prime with an aperture faster than F/1.2. The lens is reportedly being developed as part of the company’s 65th anniversary celebrations.

A 65mm F/1.1 or even F/1.0 lens would certainly be an unusual addition to the market. If it launches with autofocus, it could become the world’s fastest full-frame autofocus lens.

However, there is still considerable uncertainty surrounding the lens.

Sony Alpha Rumors reports that none of its sources have been able to confirm the rumored 65mm prime. The site speculates that Sigma could instead make a development announcement rather than actually release the lens.

If Sigma does produce a 65mm F/1.0 or F/1.1 autofocus lens, we can also expect it to be considerably larger and heavier than a conventional 65mm prime. The extremely large maximum aperture would require substantial optics and an autofocus system capable of moving them.

September Could Be a Big Month for Sigma

For now, the 85mm F/1.2 DG Art appears to be the safest bet of the three rumored lenses. The existing B&H Photo listing and recent Adobe Camera Raw support both suggest that the lens is close to launch.

The 20-60mm F/2.8-4 would also be an interesting addition to Sigma’s lineup, particularly if the company can offer it at a competitive price against Sony’s 20-70mm F/4 G.

The 65mm F/1.0 or F/1.1, meanwhile, remains the wildcard. It would certainly generate plenty of attention if Sigma actually launches it, but for now, there isn’t enough information to confirm that the lens is coming.

Fortunately, we shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out what Sigma has planned.

Pricing and Availability

There is currently no pricing information for the Sigma 85mm F/1.2 DG Art or the other rumored lenses. The 85mm F/1.2 DG Art is expected to be announced on September 8, 2026, according to the report.
