SmallRig Sigma FP2 Cage Adds Wooden Grip and Multiple Accessory Mounts

SmallRig has introduced two accessories for the newly announced Sigma FP2: an L-shaped mount plate with a wooden handle and a full camera cage. Both accessories add grip options and mounting points for users looking to build a more capable video rig around Sigma’s compact modular camera.

Designed as a compact hybrid camera with video-focused features, the Sigma FP2 can be configured with different accessories depending on the shooting setup. SmallRig’s new accessories provide additional support for handheld shooting and mounting equipment such as monitors, microphones, and lights.

L-Shaped Mount Plate With Wooden Handle

The SmallRig L-Shaped Mount Plate features an ergonomic wooden grip designed to provide a more comfortable and secure hold on the camera. Its Arca-Swiss-compatible base plate also makes it easier to mount the camera on compatible tripods and gimbals.

A cutout at the bottom of the grip provides access to the camera’s battery compartment, allowing users to replace the battery without removing the mount plate.

SmallRig Camera Cage for the Sigma FP2

The full camera cage offers a more extensive mounting system while retaining a wooden grip for improved handling. SmallRig uses a three-point locking system consisting of a bottom screw, locating pin, and side screw to help prevent the camera from twisting inside the cage.

Cutouts along the bottom and sides provide access to the camera’s ports and controls. The cage also includes an HDMI cable clamp designed to help protect the port and secure the cable during filming.

The top features an H21 NATO rail for attaching compatible top handles. A removable cold shoe mount provides another attachment point for accessories such as LED lights and microphones. Removing it also makes room for the optional electronic viewfinder.

Both sides of the cage feature 1/4″-20 threaded holes for additional accessories and mounting options, while the bottom plate is compatible with Arca-Swiss systems. A QD socket and another 1/4″-20 threaded hole provide further mounting flexibility.

SmallRig also includes a dedicated storage cutout for a wrench, keeping the tool accessible when adjustments are needed.

Modular Design for Video Rigs

The cage is designed to accommodate a range of configurations, allowing users to add accessories such as side grips and top handles to suit their shooting style. SmallRig’s wider accessory ecosystem provides additional options for building a customized video rig.

The cage also offers some protection against bumps and scratches. It is constructed from aluminum alloy and stainless steel and weighs approximately 174g.
