Nikon opens entries for the 2018-19 Nikon Photo Contest

The 2018-19 edition of the Nikon Photo Contest is now open for entries. Nikon has been hosting the contest since 1969 and the latest contest will be open for entries until January 31. If you don’t use Nikon gear, fret not, the competition is open for images captured with any digital camera, including smartphones. The full entry guidelines can be viewed by clicking here.

The competition includes three award categories: Open, Next Generation and Short Film. The first two categories are open to single photo and photo story (2 to 5 images) entries whereas the Short Film Award will be handed out to a winning video. The theme of the open award is change and the theme of the next generation award is identity. If you hope to win the next generation award, you must be 25 years of age or younger as of January 31, 2019.

The full prize details can be viewed here, but the highlights include a Grand Prize which will see the winner take home 500,000 Japanese yen, which currently converts to just over $4,400 USD. Gold Prize winners, five in total, will win a Nikon D850 and 24-70mm f/2.8 kit or a Nikon Z7 and 24-70mm f/4 S kit. Silver Prize winners, 15 in total, will win a Nikon D500 and 16-80mm kit or Nikon Z6 and 24-70mm f/4 S kit. The 25 Bronze Prize winners will receive a Nikon D7500 and 16-80mm kit. Finally, there will be a Nikon Photo Contest 50th Anniversary Prize and Participants’ Choice Prize, and each winner will receive a Nikon D500 kit or Nikon Z6 kit, like the Silver Prize winners.
