7Artisans AF 18mm F/2 LITE Is a $169 Pancake Prime for Sony APS-C

7Artisans is expanding its LITE series with the new AF 18mm F/2 LITE, a compact pancake prime designed for Sony E-mount cameras. Its small size and 27mm-equivalent field of view make it suited to travel, street photography, landscapes, and video.

Just 109g and 32mm Long

The main feature of the 18mm F/2 LITE is its compact design. The lens measures just 32mm long and weighs 109g, making it small enough to easily carry in a pocket or leave attached to a compact camera as an everyday setup.

On a Sony APS-C camera, the lens provides a 27mm-equivalent focal length. The F/2 maximum aperture also provides additional flexibility when shooting in dimmer conditions while offering some control over shutter speed and ISO.

The lens is particularly well suited to Sony’s compact APS-C cameras, including models such as the Sony A6700 and ZV-E10 II.

Small to carry. Wide to explore.

Compact Optical Design and Autofocus

The 18mm F/2 LITE uses a nine-element, seven-group optical design that includes two ED elements and five high-refractive-index elements. It also features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm.

Autofocus is driven by an STM motor designed to provide fast and quiet focusing. The lens supports Eye AF and subject recognition with compatible Sony cameras.

Minimum focusing distance is 0.2 meters, allowing photographers to get relatively close to subjects while retaining a wide view of the surrounding scene.

Metal Construction and USB-C

Despite its compact size, the lens uses an aviation-grade aluminum body and has dust- and splash-resistant construction. A USB-C port on the rear allows users to install future firmware updates.

The lens has a 52mm filter thread and includes a retro-styled square lens hood designed to help reduce flare and glare.

A manual focus ring is also provided for more precise focusing control, while the clicked aperture ring allows users to make direct aperture adjustments.

Pricing and Availability

The 7Artisans AF 18mm F/2 LITE is now available for $169 from the 7Artisans online store and Amazon. The lens is currently offered in Sony E mount.
