Amaran, best known for its range of continuous video lights, is expanding beyond lighting with its first microphone. The new Amaran Mic is a desktop microphone designed for podcasters, livestreamers, gamers, and video creators, combining wired and wireless recording with AI noise cancellation for $99.

The new microphone expands Amaran’s creator ecosystem beyond lighting and follows the company’s recent Verge series of desktop lights. Like those products, the Amaran Mic is designed around simple operation and flexible placement without adding unnecessary complexity to a creator’s setup.

A Desktop Mic for Content Creators

The Amaran Mic features a 30mm microphone capsule with an 86dB signal-to-noise ratio and can handle sound levels of up to 130dB. A built-in limiter helps keep audio under control when there are sudden spikes in volume.

The microphone is designed to work as either a wired or wireless microphone. For wired operation, users can connect it directly using USB-C. Wireless recording is handled through a USB-C-powered receiver, with a range of up to 50 meters in unobstructed environments.

The microphone’s battery is rated for up to 60 hours of use.

AI Noise Cancellation

One of the main features of the Amaran Mic is its built-in noise cancellation system.

Users can choose between three sound modes: Original Sound, Standard, and AI Noise Reduction. Original Sound leaves the recording untouched, while Standard applies a lighter level of noise reduction. AI Noise Reduction takes a more aggressive approach to removing unwanted background sounds.

Amaran says the system uses six layers of noise reduction across acoustic suppression, physical protection and built-in processing to minimize unwanted noise while keeping voices clear.

Control Your Sound With the Amaran Desktop App

The microphone also gives creators control over their sound directly from the mic itself, while the Amaran Desktop App provides additional customization.

Users can select EQ presets or create their own custom curves. The software also includes tools such as Vocal Enhancement, Noise Gate and Limiter for further control over the final recording.

This should make the Amaran Mic useful for creators who want to fine-tune their sound without having to use a separate audio interface or complicated recording setup.

Pricing and Availability

The Amaran Mic is now available for $99 from the Amaran online store and B&H Photo.
