DJI has officially teased the global launch of the Mic Mini 2S, confirming that its latest compact wireless microphone system will debut worldwide on August 4, 2026. The microphone was first introduced in China earlier this month and now appears ready for international markets.

The teaser, captioned “Capture Every Detail,” showcases the Mic Mini 2S fitted with its new multi-color magnetic front cover. DJI has scheduled the global announcement for August 4 at 12:00 PM GMT.

Premium Features Come to the Mini Series

The Mic Mini 2S builds upon the original Mic Mini 2 by introducing several features previously reserved for the flagship DJI Mic 3.

One of the biggest additions is built-in storage. Each transmitter includes 14.5GB of internal memory, allowing it to record audio independently even if the connection to the receiver is interrupted.

The onboard storage supports both 24-bit and 32-bit float recording. DJI says each transmitter can store up to 28 hours of audio when recording in the default 24-bit format.

This internal recording capability provides an important backup for creators, ensuring that audio is preserved even if wireless transmission is lost during filming.

32-Bit Float Recording Arrives

The Mic Mini 2S also introduces 32-bit float recording, one of the most significant upgrades over its predecessor.

Unlike conventional recording formats, 32-bit float provides substantially greater dynamic range, making it much easier to recover clipped highlights or boost very quiet recordings during post-production. For content creators filming in unpredictable environments, this added flexibility can help prevent unusable audio caused by sudden changes in volume.

The trade-off is larger file sizes, but many videographers consider the additional editing headroom well worth the extra storage requirements.

Support for Four Transmitters

Another notable improvement is support for up to four transmitters connected to a single receiver simultaneously. Previously, this capability was exclusive to the more expensive DJI Mic 3, making the Mic Mini 2S a more capable option for interviews, podcasts, multi-person productions, and small video crews.

The receiver itself reflects this upgrade by featuring four status indicator lights, compared to the two found on the original Mic Mini 2 receiver.

DJI has also maintained backward compatibility, allowing the new Mic Mini 2S transmitters to work with the original Mic Mini receiver.

Compact Design With Small Refinements

Despite the additional features, the Mic Mini 2S retains the compact design of the original model, with each transmitter weighing under 12 grams.

The new transmitters feature redesigned magnetic front covers, which are not interchangeable with those from the base Mic Mini 2. DJI has also added haptic feedback, providing tactile confirmation when recording starts.

Pricing and Availability

The DJI Mic Mini 2S is priced at HK$1,299 (approximately $165 USD at current exchange rates).

DJI will officially launch the microphone globally on August 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM GMT. Availability in the United States remains uncertain, as the original Mic Mini 2 was never officially released in the U.S. market.
