It seems Sigma isn’t finished announcing new lenses this year. Just a month after introducing the Sigma 85mm F/1.2 DG DN | Art, the company is rumored to be preparing another fast lens, this time an APS-C telephoto zoom.
According to a report from Sony Alpha Rumors, Sigma is set to announce a 50-120mm F/2.8 lens for APS-C cameras. The report claims the lens will be officially revealed on October 8 at 1 p.m. Berlin time, or 7 a.m. EST.
The source has a track record of reporting Sigma launch dates, and the specific date and time give the report additional weight. However, Sigma has not officially confirmed the lens or its launch plans.
A Modern Take On Sigma’s 50-150mm F/2.8
A 50-120mm F/2.8 would be an interesting addition to Sigma’s APS-C lineup. The company previously produced the APO 50-150mm F/2.8 EX DC OS HSM for Nikon, Canon, and Sigma DSLR mounts, although that lens has long been discontinued.
On an APS-C camera, the rumored 50-120mm focal range would provide a full-frame equivalent field of view of roughly 75-180mm. That puts it close to the classic 70-200mm F/2.8 range used by full-frame photographers, while offering a more compact alternative for APS-C systems.
No other specifications, pricing, or mount information have been reported so far.

Sigma May Have More Cameras Coming
The report also claims that Sigma is planning another product launch event on October 24. There is currently no information about what the company plans to announce at that event.
Sony Alpha Rumors has previously reported that Sigma is working on two new L-mount cameras. One is rumored to be a compact full-frame cinema camera designed to compete with the much-delayed Sony FX5.
The second camera is reportedly something the source describes as a “game changer,” although details remain scarce. According to the report, that camera is not expected until 2027.
For now, the rumored 50-120mm F/2.8 lens appears to be the next Sigma product to watch, assuming the October 8 announcement date is accurate.
