Motorola has officially unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Signature 27. The device combines a high-resolution Sony LYTIA camera system with a dedicated action sensor, an exceptionally bright AMOLED display, and a large 7,000mAh battery.

The Signature 27 was first teased at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in September, although Motorola shared few details at the time. The company has now revealed the full specifications, with additional hands-on coverage from YouTube creator Danny Winget.

Sony LYTIA Cameras and Dedicated Action Sensor

The Signature 27 features a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 main camera with a relatively large 1/1.28-inch sensor and LOFIC technology. Motorola says the camera is designed to deliver improved low-light performance, wider dynamic range, and vibrant colors.

The main camera is joined by a 200-megapixel Sony LYTIA 901 sensor for telephoto photography. Measuring 1/1.12 inches, the sensor supports 5x optical zoom and up to 100x Super Zoom Pro. The latter uses generative AI processing to create additional pixels and enhance highly zoomed-in images.

Completing the rear camera system is a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 1/2.76-inch sensor.

One of the more unusual additions is the dedicated EVS Action Sensor. Motorola says this sensor helps capture fast-moving moments, particularly at night, with greater clarity and less motion blur. It works alongside the camera’s Action Shot mode, which is designed to freeze movement while maximizing available light.

For video, the Signature 27 supports Dolby Vision recording and Qualcomm Electronic Image Stabilization. The main camera also features 3.5-degree optical image stabilization to help produce smoother footage when walking, panning, or shooting handheld.

12,000-Nit Extreme AMOLED Duo Display

The Signature 27 features a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo display with a claimed peak brightness of up to 12,000 nits. Motorola says this makes it easier to view maps, messages, photographs, and videos even in bright outdoor conditions.

The panel offers 1.5K Super HD resolution and Dolby Vision support, promising detailed images with strong contrast and color reproduction.

Despite its high brightness, Motorola claims the display offers 34% greater energy efficiency and up to 121% longer lifespan than traditional AMOLED panels.

The screen also features Pantone Validated color calibration for more accurate colors and skin tones. SGS-certified blue-light technology is included to help reduce eye strain.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Seven Years of Updates

Powering the Signature 27 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile platform. Motorola says the processor brings improvements to gaming, photography, connectivity, and AI performance.

To help maintain performance during demanding workloads, the phone uses a micro-diamond-infused thermal gel and a thermal chamber that is 40% larger than the previous generation.

Motorola is also promising seven years of operating system upgrades, giving the flagship a longer software support window.

Audio is another focus, with the Signature 27 featuring sound tuning by Bang & Olufsen. It includes dedicated Sound Modes and a redesigned speaker architecture intended to deliver deeper bass, clearer vocals, and improved fidelity for music, movies, and games.

Premium Design and 7,000mAh Battery

The Signature 27 features an aluminum silhouette with contoured edges and a slim profile. Its exterior combines ceramic and glass construction, with two available finishes: PANTONE Coal Smoke and PANTONE Capulet Olive.

The device uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 and an aerospace-grade aluminum frame. It also carries MIL-STD-810H durability certification and IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water.

Motorola has equipped the phone with a 7,000mAh battery, which it says is 35% larger than the previous generation. Charging is handled by 90W TurboPower technology, with Motorola claiming enough power for a full day of use after just 12 minutes of charging.

The phone also supports 50W wireless charging, with a claimed charging time of approximately 80 minutes from zero to full.

The Signature 27 runs GrapheneOS, an open-source operating system based on the Android Open Source Project. Motorola says the software was developed in partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation as part of its effort to bring advanced mobile security to more users.

Pricing and Availability

The Motorola Signature 27 will be available globally in the coming months, with a starting price of $1,599.
