Lomography has introduced two limited-edition versions of its MC-A 35mm point-and-shoot film camera to celebrate the model’s first anniversary. The new editions, called Gold Plated and Noir, feature distinctive exterior finishes while retaining the same internal specifications as the original MC-A.

The Gold Plated edition combines a gold-finished body with rich brown leather, while the Noir version features a glossy black finish and textured black leather. Lomography says both versions will be available in very limited quantities.

“To mark one year of analogue resistance, the MC-A family is also growing with two limited-edition additions: one gold-plated with rich brown leather, and one glossy black with textured black leather. Two distinct personalities share one mission: to fight digital dominance and keep the analogue spirit alive!” Lomography wrote.

Same 35mm Film Camera, New Finishes

Underneath the new exterior designs, both limited editions retain the specifications of the original MC-A. The camera uses a fixed 32mm F2.8 multi-coated lens with a five-element, five-group optical construction. Its aperture ranges from F2.8 to F16.

The MC-A supports autofocus and manual zone focusing, making it suitable for street photography and other fast-moving situations. The lens can focus as close as 0.4 meters.

Exposure options include Program Auto, Aperture Priority, and full manual control. The camera also has a built-in light meter, with metering information displayed on its LCD when the shutter button is half-pressed.

Lomography has also included several of its signature creative features, including multiple exposures, long exposures, a Splitzer lens attachment, and colored gel filters. A built-in xenon flash provides the distinctive direct-flash look associated with analog photography.

Gold Plated and Noir Editions

The two limited editions have different exterior treatments. The Noir version features a mirror-like glossy black finish paired with real leather featuring a snakeskin texture. The Gold Plated edition uses a gold-plated finish and rich brown leather.

Lomography has also made several small usability improvements to the new versions. These include easier film loading, settings that are preserved when the camera is switched off, and a tendency to favor F3.5 when shooting in automatic mode.

The built-in LCD information panel also keeps settings visible a little longer after each half-press of the shutter button.

Pricing and Availability

The Lomography MC-A Gold Plated and Noir limited editions are now available for preorder through the company’s online store, with shipping scheduled for December.

The Noir version is priced at $599, while the Gold Plated edition costs $649. For comparison, the standard MC-A in Black or Silver is listed at $549.
