Adobe is adding a new collection of AI-powered features to Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2027, giving casual photo and video editors access to more generative and automated editing tools.

The Elements applications are designed for users who want many of the core capabilities found in Photoshop and Premiere without the steeper learning curve of Adobe’s professional software. The 2027 update also includes new features for Elements Organizer, Adobe’s companion application for managing photo and video libraries.

Photoshop Elements Gets Generative Expand and Upscale

Photoshop Elements 2027 adds Generative Expand, which allows users to enlarge an image beyond its original boundaries. Adobe’s AI automatically generates additional content to fill the expanded area while attempting to match the existing scene.

The application also gets Generative Upscale, which is designed to improve clarity in low-resolution photographs.

Adobe is also introducing an AI Assistant that lets users perform edits and common tasks using natural-language commands. Instead of manually navigating through different tools, users can describe what they want the application to do.

New Creative Filters and AI Tools Hub

Photoshop Elements 2027 adds new Creative Filters, including Embroidery, Oil Painting, and Duotone effects. These provide quick ways to give photographs a different visual style.

Adobe is also adding an AI Tools Hub, which brings the application’s AI-powered features together in one place and makes them easier to access.

The company also provides sample photos and videos that users can experiment with, giving them a way to try the new tools without needing to supply their own media.

Premiere Elements Gets Generative Video Tools

Premiere Elements 2027 also receives several new AI-powered features. Users can now generate images from scratch to fill gaps in a video timeline or create overlays.

Another new feature, Generative Title ART, can turn plain text into stylized graphics based on text prompts.

Adobe is also adding Contextual Toolbars, which provide relevant editing tools based on what users describe they want to accomplish. The feature follows a similar natural-language approach to the AI Assistant in Photoshop Elements.

The update also introduces Editing Indicators, which make it easier to identify where effects, transitions, and text formatting have been applied within the timeline.

Semantic Search Comes to Elements Organizer

The Elements Organizer also gets an AI-powered update with Semantic Search. The feature allows users to search their photo and video libraries using natural-language descriptions, even when the search terms do not exactly match the tags or metadata associated with the files.

Semantic Search is currently available as a beta feature in English.

Adobe is also updating duplicate file detection and adding Share to Phone, which uses a QR code to transfer edited photos directly from a desktop computer to a smartphone or other compatible device.

Pricing and Availability

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2027 and Premiere Elements 2027 are now available to download.

Each application costs $100, while the bundle containing both programs costs $150.

Both applications use a three-year term license. Once the license period ends, users will lose access to the editing features, although their media catalog will remain accessible through Elements Organizer.

Adobe’s AI-powered features generally consume one generative credit per use. Standalone Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements licenses include 25 credits per month, while the bundle includes 100 generative credits per month. Users can also purchase additional credits through a separate AI subscription.
