Fujifilm’s X-Pro line of rangefinder-style mirrorless cameras is widely considered overdue for an update. The last model in the series, the Fujifilm X-Pro3, was released in 2019 and discontinued in 2023.
Now, fresh rumors suggest that its successor — the Fujifilm X-Pro 4 — could be on the horizon.
According to Photo Rumors, the camera is expected to arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. If accurate, it could bring several major upgrades to the series, including a new sensor, AI-driven autofocus, and expanded video capabilities.
What the Rumors Suggest
Leaked specifications point to a significant step forward compared to the X-Pro3.
The X-Pro 4 is rumored to feature a 40.2-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor paired with the X-Processor 5. This would match the imaging pipeline found in newer Fujifilm bodies, such as the Fujifilm X-E5, and represent a notable upgrade over the 26.1-megapixel sensor used in the previous model.
Autofocus is also expected to see improvements, with reports suggesting an AI-based subject recognition and tracking system similar to what Fujifilm has introduced in its recent releases.
Film simulations — a hallmark of Fujifilm cameras — are expected to return. However, it remains unclear whether the X-Pro 4 will include a dedicated Film Simulation dial, as seen on more consumer-oriented models like the Fujifilm X-M5 and X-E5. Given the X-Pro line’s traditionally minimalist, photographer-focused design, it may forgo that feature.

Hybrid Viewfinder and Video Upgrades
One defining characteristic of the X-Pro series is its hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder. The upcoming model is rumored to retain this signature feature, potentially with a 5.76-million-dot resolution EVF component.
In-body image stabilization is also expected, along with a tilting LCD screen — a practical addition for waist-level shooting, particularly in street photography.
Video capabilities could see a substantial boost as well. Similar to the Fujifilm X100VI, the X-Pro 4 is rumored to offer hybrid functionality, potentially supporting 6.2K video and 4K at 60 frames per second. By comparison, the X-Pro3 was limited to 4K30p.
Pricing and Availability
There is currently no confirmed pricing information. However, given the rumored specifications and Fujifilm’s recent pricing trends, the X-Pro 4 is expected to sit above the X-E5 in the company’s lineup.
For now, all details remain speculative, as Fujifilm has not officially confirmed development of the camera. If the rumored timeline proves accurate, more concrete information should surface closer to late 2026.
We will continue to update this story as new details emerge.
