Polaroid and The Pokémon Company are teaming up to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, and the result might be some of the cutest instant cameras we’ve seen in a while. The collaboration brings three limited-edition Pokémon-themed cameras alongside special film packs and accessories.

The collection covers both of Polaroid’s current instant camera formats, with two Pokémon-themed versions of the Polaroid Go Gen 3 and a special Polaroid Now Generation 3. There are also limited-edition film packs featuring some of Pokémon’s most recognizable characters.

Two Pokémon-Themed Polaroid Go Cameras

The newly released Polaroid Go Gen 3 gets two limited-edition designs, starting with a vibrant yellow Pikachu version.

The camera features Pikachu graphics, a Poké Ball shutter button and a matching wrist strap designed to resemble Pikachu’s iconic lightning bolt-shaped tail.

The second Go Gen 3 takes inspiration from Sylveon, giving the tiny instant camera a pink, white and blue color scheme. It also comes with Pokémon graphics and a matching wrist strap.

Sylveon is an interesting choice for the collaboration since it wasn’t part of the original 151 Pokémon. The Pokémon is an evolution of Eevee introduced in Generation 6.

Both cameras are purely cosmetic variants, with the same internals as the standard Polaroid Go Gen 3. The cameras use Polaroid Go film, which has a 47 x 46mm image area and a 53.9 x 66.6mm paper size.

The Go Gen 3 uses a 64mm polycarbonate lens, equivalent to roughly 35mm on a full-frame camera, with selectable F/14.4 and F/32 apertures.

A Poké Ball Polaroid Now Gen 3

The larger Polaroid Now Generation 3 gets an even more elaborate Pokémon treatment.

The camera uses the instantly recognizable red and white design of a Poké Ball, complete with a Poké Ball-themed shutter button and Pokémon branding. It also comes with a matching Poké Ball-shaped camera case, photo album and camera strap.

Unlike the Go cameras, the Now Gen 3 uses larger i-Type and 600 film, producing images with a 78 x 78mm image area.

Pokémon-Themed Instant Film

Polaroid is also releasing special-edition film to go along with the cameras.

The Polaroid Color i-Type Film Pokémon Edition features special dark slides with Pokémon silhouettes and their corresponding Pokédex numbers. The film borders also match the colors associated with each Pokémon.

The collection includes Charmander, Snorlax, Gengar and Togepi, with designs ranging from dark purple for Gengar to beige for Togepi and orange for Charmander.

There will also be special Go-format film designed to match the Pikachu and Sylveon cameras.

“Pokémon has always been about discovery, connection, and exploration. Working with Polaroid feels like a natural extension of these values: encouraging fans to capture moments that matter most to them in their own way and turn their favourite memories into tangible keepsakes,” said Mathieu Galante, senior director of licensing at The Pokémon Company International.
