ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV2 27 Inch Professional Monitor

ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV2 is a 27-inch IPS QHD monitor tailored for creative professionals. As the second-generation model of the PA278QV, it offers enhanced performance…

Why We Like the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV2

The PA278QV2 delivers a 2560 x 1440 resolution across its 27-inch IPS panel, providing a comfortable amount of screen space for editing timelines, arranging design elements, and working with multiple windows. Its factory calibration targets Delta E below 2, and the monitor is Calman Verified, giving creators a useful starting point for color-critical work. It also covers 100% of the sRGB color space and 95% of DCI-P3, making it suitable for a variety of photography, design, and video workflows.

Another useful feature is its 120Hz variable refresh rate. While that isn’t necessarily a priority for professional photo editing, it makes scrolling, navigating applications, and viewing motion considerably smoother than on a conventional 60Hz display. The IPS panel also offers wide viewing angles, while ASUS’s Light Sync technology uses an ambient light sensor to adjust the display’s color settings based on the surrounding environment.

Connectivity and ergonomics are also well covered. The PA278QV2 includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and a built-in USB hub with four USB-A ports. Its stand supports height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and pivot, allowing you to switch between landscape and portrait orientations. These features make it easier to create a comfortable workstation for extended editing sessions.

What to Consider Before Buying

The monitor doesn’t include USB-C connectivity, so connecting a modern laptop through a single cable for video, data, and power isn’t an option. You’ll need to use HDMI or DisplayPort for video and a separate connection for USB hub functionality. It also doesn’t provide USB-C power delivery, which is worth considering if you prefer a minimalist laptop workstation.

Although the PA278QV2 supports HDR10, its 350-nit brightness and conventional IPS panel mean you shouldn’t expect the HDR experience of a more expensive professional reference monitor. It’s better suited to SDR photo editing, graphic design, and everyday creative work than demanding HDR mastering. For accurate results, you should still consider calibrating the display periodically as part of your editing workflow.
