Canon appears to have several new cameras in the pipeline. The company has registered another two cameras in Asia, bringing the total number of unannounced Canon cameras registered since April 2026 to five.

According to a report from Photo Rumors, the latest registrations are identified by the model numbers DS126991 and DS126986. While the registrations don’t reveal much about the cameras themselves, they have already sparked speculation about what Canon could be preparing to launch.

Two New Canon Cameras Registered

According to Canon Rumors, the DS126991 is likely to be an inexpensive PowerShot camera. The registration shows support for the 2.4GHz band, which suggests that it could be a relatively low-end model.

The report says the camera should be announced no later than January 18, 2027.

The other registration, DS126986, is believed to be an interchangeable-lens camera in Canon’s EOS R lineup. According to the report, its announcement is expected no later than January 4, 2027.

There isn’t much more information available about either camera at the moment. Without additional leaks or specifications, it’s difficult to determine exactly where these models will fit into Canon’s lineup.

Five Cameras Could Be Coming

The two latest registrations bring the total number of unannounced Canon cameras registered since April to five.

Canon Rumors speculates that three of the five cameras could be interchangeable-lens models, while the other two may be PowerShot cameras.

Camera registrations typically precede product launches by several months, so we could start seeing some of these cameras officially announced relatively soon.

The timing is particularly interesting because Canon is already rumored to have several new products in development.

Canon EOS R8 Mark II Could Be Coming Soon

The Canon EOS R8 Mark II will reportedly be announced on September 15, 2026.

One of the most anticipated upcoming Canon cameras is the EOS R8 Mark II, which is rumored to arrive in September.

The camera has attracted considerable interest because it is reportedly getting a retro-inspired design and a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor, putting it directly against popular cameras such as the Nikon Zf.

According to current rumors, the EOS R8 Mark II will take design inspiration from Canon’s classic AE-1 SLR. It could feature tactile mechanical dials and a more angular body while remaining relatively lightweight and compact.

The rumored design is said to introduce a “new design language” for Canon, suggesting that it could look significantly different from the rounded designs used by many of the company’s current mirrorless cameras.

The EOS R8 Mark II is also rumored to offer a 40fps electronic shutter burst rate, along with in-body image stabilization and a single SD card slot.

If those specifications prove accurate, the camera could become an interesting competitor in the increasingly popular retro-style full-frame camera segment.

More Canon Cameras Could Be Coming

For now, Canon hasn’t officially commented on the latest camera registrations or confirmed the development of the EOS R8 Mark II.

The registrations themselves don’t reveal enough information to determine exactly which cameras are coming, but having five unannounced models registered is certainly a sign that Canon has several products in development.

With some of these cameras expected to be announced within the next several months, we shouldn’t have to wait too long before more information starts to emerge.
